I am not the most qualified to answer this but I will anyway. TRV does not makes use of altered states of consciousness. In fact, if I am correct, one is quite alert and focused. The technique that Mr. McMoneagle uses is a different form of remote viewing. There are differences in techniques, each with its advantages and disadvantages. I, too, once tried to "relax" prior to TRV...it did not help. However, "relaxation" or altered states is (are? shame on me for my uncertainty on this noun-verb agreement!) crucial in other forms of RV.

I am not favoring one over another. If I did I might not be on this BB. I firmly believe that there are many ways to access the Universal Mind...just like there are many ways to get from Miami to New York, or to become enlightened!
Hi Kevin, thanks for your reply.
When I mentioned the "relaxing into it" what I meant was "clearing my mind" of any other thoughts/interuptions. (it is quite hard to put into words).
As Joe McMoneagle described "emptying ones mind to allow communication with the subconcious" by relaxing/low sensory input/meditating.
He mentioned listening to Hemi Sync tapes that got him to the desired Brain wave frequency very quickly.
(this is the only way that I have tried remote viewing so far, although not with the tapes).
I have not tried the Trv course tapes, so I do not know which way is taught according to those.
I just wondered if anyone has tried this method and if it was successful.
Thanks.
Rich, Kevin is correct. I have used (years ago) the hemi-sync tapes, and while it may be beneficial for some types of activity, it is actually (for me) detrimental to TRV. Don't get me wrong, its a great way to really relax, but TRV requires you to be alert.Have you ever noticed sometimes when you are under a bit of pressure, your decisions and reactions are really fast, and you are not questioning yourself about them - you are sort of "speeded up" as it were - you are not giving your brain a chance to question your decisions, - this is something like what you do during a remote viewing session - you move quickly along, so that your "thinking" brain does not have a chance to analyse your idea/thought. You don't have to be relaxed or under hypnosis to be successful at this, and can interfere with the TRV process. I am just an amateur here, so my knowledge is limited - go to the PSI-Tech home page, and follow the links/read the material, it gives you a much better explanation than I can.

:)
P.S. I still have the hemi-sync tapes if you want to buy them...
Please help me to understand how to properly detox from being someone else. I can't clear my head and need to get on with my own life.
Kevin is correct. Hemisync tapes are not necessary or beneficial to TRV. TRV is a highly rigorous and structured attention
management skill and requires that one be alert. There are procedures in TRV designed to prevent analytical overlay, thoughts and interruptions from interfering with the data.

The techniques that McMoneagle uses were replaced in the military unit by the Ingo Swann techniques, which were more effective and preferred by most of the viewers. On this board, you aren't likely to find many who practice the ERV/altered state methods.
Hi Rich,

I've done a little with this, so here's my experience. I got a fellow in the chat room (The ever cooperative Sonic) to make me a hemi sync cd. I mention this in that it isn't a professionally done thing. But I think it worked correctly in that the first time I listened to it while laying down to relax it put me right to sleep.

I used the cd while doing trv several times and did not notice any perceivable difference in the quality of my sessions. The tape has bi-aural beats with a white noise over the top, so to speak, at a theta level. Namely at 7.8 hertz I think it is. The same as the Shulman resonance and meant to put you into a theta state. I know I had heard/read Ed mention a high theta state as being the best level to RV at.

In any event I now only use the tapes for their background noise while trving IF there is noise in the house I'd like to block out from being distractive.

Best wishes to you,
Thanks for the reply Gene.
My house is quite noisy (2 young children)so this is what I was looking for, something to help shut out the background noise when I can sometimes not guarantee peace to help me RV.
Is there anywhere I could obtain something like that? (I am from the UK and not worried if it is professional or not)
Thanks very much,
Hi Rich,

I'm not sure where to send you. The fellow who did mine didn't indicate it was all too complicated. Basically I think you need a computer and the ability to cut a CD. As far as where to go to get the bi-aural beats and the white noise I just don't know. My thought would be that if you want to make your own to do a web search, as I know the fellow downloaded it in pieces from somewhere. Though I would assume someone must be selling simple CDs with this stuff on it. Maybe some sound/computer savvy person out there will offer a hand.

Best regards,
PS. Btw, MacMoneagle didn't use a specific "technique" He was a natural psychic and he continuously claimed that 'remote viewing was not teachable' until only just recently.
Funny how these folks change their stories instead of just telling the truth.
